Octavia vRS II TDi

Featured Replies

My copy of Auto Express dropped onto the mat today, not had a good read yet but I did notice they've got a small article about the possibilty of a TDi Octavia vRS.

It refers to the website which was reveled on here a while ago in another thread - wonder if they are now using Briskoda as a source for stories :P

Summer according to AutoExpress.

Annoyed - couldn't find a copy of AutoExpress in WH Smith's this lunchtime, to see the story. Is the article online do you know - couldn't see it on the AE website.

Steve

article says 168bhp.... will cost about £18500 according to AE - says will be available late summer :)

And it'll look far better than the new Leon too, which is always a bonus :D

Someone scanned and posted it on here last night Steve in another thread.

Interesting that the 168 TDi Leon has the exact same 0-60 time as the 200bhp petrol. Guess it proves that peak power isn't the be all and end all eh?

I have some info on the TDi but I'll need to check before i can post it up.

I think you misread the article as the first half was talking about the 200bhp petrol model with similar stats to the Octavia vRS (slightly less top speed) but the TDI FR diesel is described further down -

"With a chunky 258lb-ft of torque from its 16-valve, unit-injector engine, the Leon TDI FR returns low fuel consumption of 47.1 mpg (provisional figure) on the combined cycle but a top speed of 133 mph, and the 0 to 62 mph sprint taking 8.2 seconds."

So yes it has more torque which will make it quicker accelerating through the gears but it's one second slower 0-62mph and has a lower top speed. I suspect the Octavia vRS diesel will be similar. Incidently, if you check the specification of the new Golf TDi GT it should also make for a good comparison. If you're a high mileage driver I suspect the diesel vRS will be quite favourable but we will have to wait and see whether it drives and handles as well.

Yup I did misread, you're right.

Warning: Briskodaing at work can result in misreading and misplaced goading of petrol drivers!

Speaking of vRS TDIs does anybody know anymore about the next generation Fabia vRS? What makes the Fabia so unique is the diesel engine, so perhaps there will be a TDI in the Mk2?

Here are some tech specs -

I'd like to bet money that I wouldn't shake a mapped one off.

I will be hoping for half a day with one to do a comparison when they arrive.

Got my VRS last week after waiting 3 weeks. I really wanted the TDI VRS but noone could confirm there was going to be one when I ordered my car. Cars great but would have liked diesel with masses of torque! -----------------------------oh and better fuel economy

One possible issue with remapping though -

They are putting a gearbox that can take 350NM into a car with an engine that can pump out 350NM.

Hmm thats not good :(

What about the DSG?

i think they have problems putting a lot of torque through the DSG box as well
