Sidelight bulb holder removal in Octavia Elegance 2013 estate

Featured Replies

I know this area has been covered - I've just read a fairly useful BriSkoda post from 2014 on a very similar subject, but couldn't see anyone explain quite how the sidelight bulb is freed from its holder. All I can see is a short plastic 'paddle' with the cables attached, that I've tried without success to remove: the holder swivels in the horizontal but doesn't seem to want to come free. Have used fingers (-difficult to reach in !) and various small pliers, but am now onto a third day of trying. Is there a release mechanism or fixing that I need to free ? A tyre fitter on YouTube ('Taj' ?) makes it look easy, just pulling it out, but it feels as if it's held in place  in mine.  Thanks in advance.

You just use a long pliers and grab it firmly, swivel it and pull at the same time.

It needs some quite force if you remove it for the first time.

Thanks, AVHReplica: I gave up after days of frustration, and took it down to my local Halfords, where a helpful chap also struggled for a short while before prevailing with long-nosed pliers ! I'll know better for next time and carry a set in the car.

Cheers
