Whats this switch do!?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just bought a new 1.2 Sport and theres a switch marked 'on' that I can't figure out what it does. I can't find anything in the manual about it!

Its positioned below the steering wheel on the righthand side in the opening of the drop down compartment. It pushes in and out but doesn' t seem to do a thing!

Just wondered if any one knew what its for???? Flux capacitor? ;)

Also, i've only had one minor niggle with my car (otherwise im very pleased!). Theres an intermitent rattle coming from the dash on the passenger side, i've had it to the dealer but they couldn't find the problem as it didn't seem to rattle for them. Anyone else had this? It's quite annoying and seems to happen randomly.

Cheers!

it chills the can holder!! as its linked to the air con - similar swith in the glove box.

It's not a switch as such just a slider that moves to allow air from the ventilation system in your Yorkie/Mars Bar cooler.

are these linked to the air con? i thought they were just cold blowers.

Yeah , you pull the slider to 'on' and when the air con is on , chilled air circulates and keeps yer can/choccky whatever cold , the same in the glovebox , they both only work while aircon is running tho!

glovebox lid rattle ?

I've encountered the rattle from where you describe in mine too. Very intermittent but my first suspect was the glovebox lid, but I've only had it once so far in 1000 miles

Otherwise the car is doing brilliantly :D

There is a picture and description of the storage compartment and switch on page 89 of the 05.05 version of the Fabia Owner's Manual.

When i saw subject of the topic i thought it was about that switch :) glad to know now what is it for.

It's subtley different to the glovebox. The glovebox always has chilled air being blown into it (assuming the vent is open) whereas the can cooler compartment has air at the same temperature as the cabin being blown into it. So in the summer it cools and in the winter it heats (as one unfortunate Brisky member discovered ;))....

Yup - I've done that by mistake. Melted a whole stash of chocolate :(
