Snooper or Road Angel???

Featured Replies

Probably missed something similar but as new job will involve major mileage I'm thinking of getting a detector.

Which should I go for????

I've got a Road Angel, as I know plenty of others have on this forum. It works very well, and the green light matches the Octy interior lighting.

The only problem I have with it is mounting it, I've tried velcro'ing it to the dash but it keeps coming unstuck when I corner a bit hard. Sorry to hijack the thread, but how have other RA owners overcome this?

BTW - there's plenty of threads on detectors to look through, the Origin Blue 2 is another you should consider.

Good hunting,

Andy

I've got a Road Angel. Why did I get it instead of the Snooper? Well;

Radar is getting to be an irelevance, so more often than not you are going to pick up a garage forecourt door

Laser is very prevelant, but due to the way it works, by the time its been detected you will have been nicked anyway.

GPS is the way to go, OK you will get notified of fixed sites whether they are active or not but thats the way it goes.

Would I buy one again? Maybe. I miss my Morpheus, it had one feature I loved. It only alerted you if you were above the limit for a particular piece of road, the Road Angel doesn't, it will always alert.

There are others available such as BlueI 2, Road Pilot, Cheetah(?). Have a look at all of them and see which takes your fancy.

There are a couple of sites which give comparisons between the various systems. I'll try and find the links to them or you could try Google. I think one was www.snooper.co.uk

Andy, heavy duty velcro. Stays on even on trackdays :D

go for the Origin B2 is a wicked piece of kit.

.. you could take a peek around in here ...

I have the Road Angel, which I find very good. Yes, it can move, but then I do swap it between my van and car. I also like it for its simplicity. Yes it always warns you of upcoming cameras regardless of your speed, but sometimes that is handy when those around you are dropping anchor at the last minute because at least you will know why and be prepared.

Cheers Jon

The problem's not so much with the velcro, more with the adhesive as the dash is a bit squidgy/spongy so whatever I've tried so far just keeps coming unstuck. I'll have a look around for some really heavy duty stuff.

Andy

I just used the heavy duty velcro. Clean the dash really well and then a smear of superglue :D Never moved yet!

ah, Superglue - so simple yet so clever!

I have my RA velcro'd to the cradle using the supplied velcro, and the suckers on the cradle stuck to the windscreen with the cradle resting on the dash. I've never had it come unstuck as yet...

If I was buying today I'd probably head towards the Origin Blue 2.

Good question...shouldn't have thought so, but I don't know for sure. Paul's got one, so he'll be able to be definitive...

A couple of people in work are after them too - apparently radar girl offer discounts for orders of more than two.

Perhaps are resident group discount guru could sort out a group buy!!!!!

I went and got a Bel Euro 550 and found that it goes mad even when you're miles from a camera, yes it does go off at the odd garage but it detects everything. It seemed a bit pricey but the reviews seemed jolly good.

I used the spongy cushioned feet on it and then stuck the spongy bits that the feet were cut out of onto to the dash and that has not moved once.

I am tempted by the Origin B2.....is there anyone willing to show off their's???

The web's good but still lacks the 'first impression' sort of feeling when looking for a product!!!

If you are willing to meet up for me to have a gander, are in the M25 J10 - M42 J11 or M1 J27 sort of area, that would be swell!!!!

Andy,

I've only just seen this thread.

Was looking to get a OBi as my local Costco had them on sale for

I have looked at the Snooper S4, I'm guessing the Neo is the one your on about, and although it does about the same as the OB2, it is a fair bit larger. The OB2 is very small and neat and I have seen one in use. Not seen the Snooper in use, so can't really comment on how effective that is.

Graeme,

I think the NEO is the S6.....then S4 is the latest Snooper offering (and cheaper).

I think Dave (Skodaw) had a Snooper S6 (now sold).

Found radar girl web site and the price for the OB2 is very good (

Are you guys still interested in a group buy?

I need to know how many are interested and for which device.

I'm interested in OB2, RA or even the Snooper S4. My sisters boyfriedn wants to get a GPS based device so that's 2 of us.

Anyone else?
