Diesel and electrolosis.

Featured Replies

Apologies if this is vague. I didn't save the links. :o

A while ago I read some articles from USA about some kits that were sold to retrofit onto comercial trucks. Basis of it was to electrolyse water to produce hydrogen and oxygen and then add the hydrogen and oxygen to the engine intake.

The claim was that although it takes more energy to make hydrogen and oxygen from water than you get back from burning it; this method promoted cleaner burning of the diesel fuel as well. Thus netting an overall efficiency gain.

I recall lots of arguing backwards and forwards about whether it worked.

Anyone recall having heard of this or similar, other than Devonutopia's threads on LPG fumigation, which may work in a similar way.

Links would be useful, again :o

Sounds interesting. That said it's likely to be considered a higher risk than LPG Fumigation, which although not used a great deal commercially on cars, is widely used on larger diesels that run constant revs etc.

I'm hoping to get my LPG install done in the next month at the latest, work permitting :)
