Height of floor to roof in boot

Featured Replies

Hi all, would anyone have the heights of the boot floor to ceiling when the seats are fully flat.

looking to see if two road bikes, front wheels off will fit standing and secure to a fork mount.

RIDC website is useful but doesn’t show height within the car, only the opening.

many thanks

You don't say if you're asking about estate or hatch, but my guess is estate???

Yes. The estate. Many thanks

Doubtful that these will fit due to seat post height with back wheel still in place.
I put my road bike flat on the floor with wheels still in place. I have a large sheet of  25mm thick rubber which will cover the boot area, then a second bike can go on top of the other. It works but I don’t do it often.
I use a tow ball rack for MTB or road bike if I need the boot.

Thanks all, doesn’t look like this work then 😞

in the picture the saddles are clearly dropped which is not a goer when you have a setup that is fine tuned on a road bike!

so there does seem to be a lack of options on the user market for a bike carrying estate.

the only car that appears to meet the mark is one built in Swindon for 3 years only!

I used to carry bikes that were fine tuned.

The seat posts were not dropped, just marked with tape or tipex and removed.

With carbon posts and carbon frames the posts are dialled in and tightened with the right Nm etc.

Dropping and removing before each race is just one more thing to get wrong!

I have been through all the options again and again and so few cars offer this front wheel off fork stand option.

I would take a torque wrench or go for a taller SUV or people carrier. Better still, abandon the road biking scene 😁👍

VW Caddy Maxi,

or VW Sharan / SEAT Alhambra, or a Skoda Roomster maybe.

I had an Alhambra to use as a van.

It's a push bike for heavens sake, not a F1 car 🤣🤣🤣  and shouldn't be raced on the public highway

Racing isn’t just on roads I can assure you if that!

But fiddling with seat heights before and after rides/races is a hassle, if you are serious cyclist you will get that.

Yes I could go the large MPV route but I don’t want to do that again; was hoping for something estate size that would do this.

with the popularity of cycling its surprising how few options there are for carrying a bike upright in the rear with front wheel removed.

I can’t be the only person who has this requirement!

The good thing is that when at the club / events / races you see what everyone else uses to transport their bikes.

Sounds good, would be interesting to see.

The other point in response to further above, carrying bikes in a car in theory is the safe approach.

Had direct experience of a team mate having nice bikes being removed from a rear rack and roof rack while stopped at Services.

when travelling alone for distance carrying bikes inside the car is the only option.
