Glow Plug flashing and Start/stop system failure

Featured Replies

Hi!

Hope someone have the knowledge im looking for

I changed the waterpump and while at it took the cam belt as well.

After the install the engine runs as normal, same consumption, no smoke white or black, all lights working. But the glow plug light started flashing.

I have tried to google it and cant really find anyone with the same problem.

First i thought it might be a battery issue so charged the battery but after 4 hrs it was still charching at 9 amp so i guess that battery is shot, so i bought a new one and installed it, but it didnt fix the problem..light is still flashing.

As i said everything except the start/Stop is working, it starts fine and i dont get an error code when i used an obd reader, might need a vag reader perhaps??

I guess that the start(stop fault is somehow linked to the flashing glowplug since its my understanding that the glow plug light can be an intermittent problem that doesnt have to do with the glowplugs specifically.

Does anyone have a good guess on what it can be??

All help appreciated

Regards

Well, throwing money at the car without reading the fault codes first won't be helping.

Thanks!

It's not like I don't know that. The battery didn't take any charge so that's why I changed it.

Go to dealers and let them clear the fault codes. Standard procedure for the Kodiaq after fiddleing with battery.

Problem is i dont have any faultcodes...

Not sure if it helps but I got the stop/start dash warning, and limp mode, a few times last winter when it was cold and the car hadn't been used for some time. Charging the battery always fixed it, and it hasn't happened since.

Maybe it's the first thing checked, or the most sensitive to low battery voltage

Update:

Adjusted the camshaft with one notch and that solved the problem.

It was me that did a sloppy job when installing the new water pump. Always bad when you have no onw else to blame than yourself :P

Wow.  Lucky you I imagine.

Glad you got sorted, but hopefully it didn't take you the full 9 months 😂

The stop/start feature is automatically disabled when the car detects a fault i.e. when the EML or glowplug light is illuminated.
