Fuel filter

Featured Replies

Hello

I try to find fuel filter for Superb MK3 2.0 tsi 4x4 280 hp but I  don't find.

It is possible to don't have one?

If someone can help me please.

Thank you

You will absolutely have one. I'm not familiar with that platform, but on my mk2 octavia - it sits on the fuel line under the car.

Integrated into the in-tank pump from mid 2017 onwards, by the looks of this page and its descriptions:

LLLParts

These are fitted with a 'lifetime' fuel filter, as @Wino says it will integrated into the pump.
If my memory serves me correct, there is a couple of revisions across the platform, so be careful if you are buying a replacement.

Lifetime filter... Sounds nasty.

Is there a problem you are trying to solve @CRISB

If not, leave this alone for about 10 years.

Not on a plastic fuel-tanked petrol car unless fuel quality is in doubt.

I think that’s exactly my issue. Fuel quality is generally good, but it only takes one trip to a petrol station which doesn’t maintain its tanks as well as you’d like. These exist in the UK and Europe, and whilst they’re rare I imagine it would mean new pump unit not just an external filter.

If the filter is just integrated but can be cleaned/replaced that’s a different story.

I'll freely admit to not having the slightest idea what maintenance a petrol station tank may or may not require.

Also no idea whether the filter is removable and cleanable within one of these new-fangled combined pump/filters, but I doubt it.

There is cleaning of the tanks periodically at least and when times are tight I imagine some skip or extend this out.

On an older car I did the fuel filter and found what appered to be sand on the dirty side of the filter along with a very black filter.

Admitedly this was a diesel, but even so.

My only worry would be a £75 fitted fuel filter issue could quickly turn into a £300+ fitted fuel pump issue.

Then again I am very skeptical of anything that claims it's for life.

typo

There is maintenance of Filling Station Pumps and filters in them.

Very surprising that the metered fuel is getting through and into the vehicles tanks in the UK.

Unless you own a car from new you are unlikely to be sure where the fuel that went into a vehicle came from, possibly more so with a diesel that might have had a fill up from a tank set up in a yard someplace to gravity feed vehicles.

A mate took his fuel filter apart after it had been 20 years in a petrol 1.8T Passat. He found it clean with slight residue and debris.
