my brother in law bought one, friday evening!

finally got shot of his pita insignia, 2 yrs after i told him get rid of it!

its a 2021, ex demo with about 6000km on the clock.

ive only driven it around the block here, and not looked into the spec etc, but...

its comfy, well equipped, looks decent enough, boots pretty alright, though no Octy in terms of length.

first time driving a BEV, its weird. he has the KERS at max, so wgen you lift off (at housing estate speeds) theres not much coastimg, it just starts to brake.

gear knob is a dial, literally. twist to the left, reverse, neutral in the middle, drive to the right.

didnt play with the infotainment or anything, and only got to do 50kph around the place, so no idea whats its like myself on a big fast road.

7yr parts and labour warranty, and hes booking in the home charger installation.

couple of pics, i didnt take any of the outside...

hes a fitness instructor, thus the "prowler" shoved into the back at the minute.

ill keep up with him on how it goes, and what living with it is like, he did the maths and reckons hell save about 1900e in yr one against the diesel. plus he isnt turning the key wondering what will break today like i used to do with my inshi7nia..

I've been watching these since before the EV version was released and been on the fence when pre-order offers were on. Wish I had now for the value of the Exclusive model back then. There have been some horror stories ref the application of the warranty and one man in particular who got one that hadn't been coated properly and started to rust heavily immediately and they refused to sort it for some time and only through his finance company did he get rid of it after several months and independent inspections etc etc. That was around the time of the change over from the ICE ones being no longer built in China but Taiwan maybe? That was what ultimately stopped me as I'd not be purchasing on finance and in the same boat I'd have been left hanging big time. I like the bigger HS but only has a PHEV on the electric side of things and is also not cheap cheap at all. The facelift one shown this month, im not so keen on the new Hyundai borrowed grill, but inside infotainment and tech in general is fantastic looking with proper full app control and I'd like to think the heated seats have more options than burn/off. The MARVEL R looks like it could be a big hit though, keeping an eye on it!

thanks for the warranty story,

ill tell the brother in law -

a) keep an eye on the body work

b) watch for warranty issues and tough it out with them, have the argument...

pretty sure its on finanace, so he should have a bit more support.

whole thing was diamond coated, including the interior and upholstery so be interested to see how easy it is to it clean..

Here is a bit of a overview of the guys story ( he wasn't alone) with the rust after 7 months odd from new and pics on post #70 onwards as his website he made is gone now along with links he posted to it himself etc from posts (I am assuming some terms imposed on a final resolution). The rust thing itself seems to be not very common, it was just how they dealt with the warranty claim in the circumstances and against the finance company and the financial ombudsman made me step far back at time. That is a few years ago though and hopefully I'd like to think MG UK has upped their game as that was very damaging for them and anyone looking at getting an MG at the time would have run into this blokes story easily and he had to scream and shout at them from every direction.

It has a new face.

More importantly the charger port has been improved.

I was expecting to click on this and see a souped up Rover 45...

MG Z (Z for Zap) would be a good one... ^

Ohh a turbo, welcome to uncontrollable torque steer folks... (drove one back in the day). Mum had a NA MG Metro back then, it seemed nice in those days.

But @roottoot That looks like a winner.

I had a beige 1984 Metro 1.3 Auto with brown velour interior.

1 lady owner, never raced or rallied.

When i sold it it it was 2 lady registered keepers and never rallied.  It was used at autotests though.

I had a pre-facelift MG Metro Turbo like that and then a facelift one - the facelift one was a 'Friday special' which eat 3 exhausts and 3 batteries in 18 months so I part-ex'd it for a Renault 5 GT Turbo and vowed never to buy another ARG (or whatever they called themselves) car again.

I had not realised just how good this car had got with its revision so soon after its first launch a year or so ago and the introduction of the Long Range.

Bargain price by comparison to anything else on the UK market and ranges from about 250 miles to 350 miles depending on where and weather.

Most go have a look at one...

They keep rolling them out. Inoffensive enough.

Reportedly the most unreliable brand currently on the market it is has been said.

Think I would consider a BYD but not a MG/SAIC car.

In our annual Reliability Survey, we ask readers to rate the dependability of cars aged up to five years old. Here we list the most and least reliable small SUVs in the UK

Very sloppy from Car Dealer Magazine.

Nice that they show the result as the British Built MINI Electric as most reliable.

Yet they publish a picture of a Chinese Built MINI ELECTRIC Cooper SE. (No wheel arch trims.)

Just done 165 miles in the MINI, half 60 mph roads and half motorway, temp about 13-16 degrees C. No need for AC on which is only ever use in damp weather or very very hot. Had no heating or cooling as was in Green + mode, acceleration when ever needed. Cruise control set when suitable. The range is 20 miles more without the AC on. Got 3.6 - 3.9 miles to kWh. Charged after 75 miles for £10 to 99% and did 90 miles and arrived with 25 miles range. Cost was £2.40 for home charge and the £10.00. next charge in will be about £11 to 100%, but then before home likely 60 kWh of charging will be at nearer 69-79 pence a kWh.

Interesting about the reliability rating... BIL hasnt had any issues with his that i know about 🤷‍♂️

When the MG,s were few and far between and not many on UK roads there were very high results in Surveys on reliability and I suspected Dealership staff filling in surveys. There does seem to be owners of some brands more prepared to share their experiences. Looking at WHICH magazine survey results on any kind of stuff has my thinking WTF about some results.
