Skoda fabia 1.4 tdi remap options

Featured Replies

Just looking at the remap options out there.

I see on ebay 2 sellers offering remap files has anybody on here used these with any experiences?

I know a stage 1 should get up to around 100bhp standard.

Stage 2 normally mods wont do anymore standard?

What's needed for stage 2 mods exhaust and intercooler?

I don't know how much it'd set you back etc. to go to Stage 2 but I know Celtic Tuning quote something in the 105bhp region for a Stage 1 remap... along with some bragging rights, I guess. :D

"I've got a Stage 1 Fabia..."

I'd suggest before looking at power increase you look at uprating the braking system. I notice that the MK2 Fabia has discs al round. Possibly not an option on a MK1, but perhaps an upgrade to the VRS discs and pads?+

Echoing on VWD, maybe uprate the front discs to the VRS/2.0 ones. There's threads outlining what you'll need for a job like that.

I don't know how much benefit you'll receive with discs on the rear over drums. I'll leave that one to the experts.

As a side note, maybe look at getting stiffer springs or a rear anti-roll bar (more commonly referred to as a RARB on here) if you haven't got one already. I don't have one but apparently they're a game changer with the Fabia.

There is no stage 2 remap, you'd need a bigger turbo but the engine isn't anywhere near as strong as the 1.9 so I'd be chary of going any further than where you already are. Further mods would frankly be a waste of money.

It's a ball ache. For a remap from whatever the 1.4 puts out to 105 which is what the non vRS 1.9 TDi puts out, go for the same brakes as the 1.9. I'm not even sure they're larger discs tbh. My 1.9 was mapped to 154hp and I ran standard 105hp brakes even on track.

Obviously a Remap adds no weight to a car and no matter what extra power you gain it makes no difference if you drive at the same speed as you do pre remap.

If the brakes are not doing the job now when you have the accelerator at the floor and are constantly then braking well that is a different matter.

If the car now does the job of slowing you and stopping you on UK roads at NSL's with 100ps then it will just the same with 130ps.

But then if you are going to be going every place quicker and braking harder and more often then upgrading brakes is simply sensible.

As might be tyres and suspension, but does the tyres and suspension let you down now when putting the accelerator to the floor to go as quick as the car can go with the power it has ?

@VWD

In the UK Mk2 Fabia 1.2, 1.2 TSI & 1.6 TDI Monte Carlo 2010-2014 and 60,70,75 or 105 ps came with rear drums.

(People even tune them and do not do brake upgrades.  Standard tyre fitment is 205/40 R17)

Some Models like Greenline and others including vRS got rear discs.

There were Mk3 Fabia that came with rear drums.

On brakes, what is standard depends on the engine tune. The TDi 90 and 110 use FS111 calipers and (at most) 280mm discs. To fit DS3 calipers to a car, any car, with FS111s needs new front uprights as well as discs, pads, calipers and caliper carriers. So the only diesel Furbie with DS3s as standard is the vRS, and even then you need to change the carriers to fir 320mm discs.

You could spec it as an option on some models up until they dropped it from the configurator. :)

I think a stage 1 will be enough standard to go from 70bhp to 100bhp and 105bhp.

My first post has anybody used the 2 people who do remaps on ebay on the links?

I wouldn't worry who does it, most TDI remaps on 15 year old cars are generic by now, all the clever stuff happened early on during map development.

Do you have the equipment (MPPS cable typical) and knowledge to download your original map and upload the modified map. While this may sound simple, there is a very slight chance of bricking your ECU. There used to be a company called Blacksmoke-Remaps on Ebay who had excellent reviews across Audi/Seat/Skoda/VW forums, and could offer a recovery on your ECU if issues arose or even load the map for you if you posted them your ECU but they do not appear to be active anymore.
