Last week my driver's side electric window suddenly stopped working properly,making a crunching sound when operating.

It's  a 2018 model with 20k on the clock.

Thankfully I have 27 days left before my manufacturers warranty runs out.

I took it to the main dealer and it was fixed under warranty. 

Anyone else had this happen?

Had the drivers side cable fray and get wound up in the motor on a 16 plate with 40k miles. Had the same symptoms as you've described.

I've  no idea why it would happen .

Neither, just seems to be a design flaw as nothing untoward happened beforehand.

 

Only other electrical issue that I've faced is the boot switch failing meaning the button no longer worked but could still open with the key fob. Again no warning and no faults logged.
