Installing Dash Cam 2020 mk4 1.5 TSI Technology

Featured Replies

Hi, I am just about to take delivery of a 70 plate Octavia mk4 1.5 TSI - My question is can I power and run a dash cam from the USB port in the rear view mirror please?  According to the specs. this is a USB C charging point.  If this is possible it would save the cost of a hard-wire installation!  Thanks, Alan

You can but it's not a permanent live, i hardwired mine in and tapped into the 12v socket

hard wired kits are only £10 on ebay, the problem with the usb-c in the mirror, is that it is on the wrong side for rhd cars,

a hard wired kit might be neater

Anyone thought about how to change the USB-C ports to always on?
