Is the TESLA Warranty like others that has an Exclusion for Race Tracks or Off-road courses?

BMW and VW have that, but then the Media cars were launched with Journalists and others driving them on tracks then those cars were sold to people.

This is the benefit with always updating infotainment system.

 

good to hear....the Skoda nav updates monthly AFAIK. when I sold my model 3 in 2021 the maps were still the 2019 release and were badly out of date. Good to hear they have improved things (though I still read daily posts about unexpected emergency stops and wipers that refuse to work on auto)

Actually, I'm not sure about the maps, I haven't checked the mapping date. I was thinking about the routing algorithm and thus behaviour, whether it includes third party rapid chargers.

 

The wipers are ever changing :rofl: I find it as useless as Nissan Leaf auto wiper with rain sensor. Difference is Nissan's sensitivity is adjustable (which I'm constantly adjusting), Tesla's isn't.

People say very latest update made it better: https://www.speakev.com/threads/wipers-fixed-in-2024-20-1.185444/ I haven't noticed the change and the change is not documented.

 

No assistive system is without faults, for example:

 

 

Another BIG Family / Taxi / Private hire for taking children around in (Yellow Cabs) sized EV for bigger families with small rear passengers maybe, or sales reps / commercial travellers on their own but needing longer range EV,s.

 

Centre screen and how it is for right handed people in right hand drives is really rather important.

But the reviewers just ignore mentioning that.

Ford are going to have to be First Registering lots of EV,s in the UK, leasing cheap or to fleets / car hirers etc to be meeting 22% registrations of their sales for cars.

(Maybe the new Government will address the use of partners allowing them to take the p!ss over how they meet the requirements.)

They need to be producing models small and less expensive.

the Skoda system is now very good, I can do pretty much all the things which until now I have used ABRP to do, specify what level of charge I am hap-py to arrive with, filter by networks that I might prefer, eg Ionity or only chargers that are ultra rapid etc. It's so good I am now cosnidering whether I actually need to use ABRP at all.

Travel Assist is much better than Tesla's autopilot, nowhere near as irritating and I've had no issues at all with any of the assist systems (touch wood)

Love it, an EV with "petrol" mode :)
 

 

They are wonderful.

But then the UK NSL & max 70 MPH limit means that they are just a lot of speed and bits and pieces that are available and not much use if driving lawfully in the UK. 

 

Speed limiter warnings of 3 different type compulsory from the factory,

and now Data Logging so a record of how often turned off, and where.

My local Best Driving Road, or part of it. 

Great to have fun there within the 60 mph limit, if there were not so many around that cannot  stay on their side of the road and then those that park over blind crests and on corners.

 

1 x 50 kW charger in Braemar, sometimes works,

2 in Aboyne & 1 in Tomintoul, or down to Grantown on Spey for a Rapid charge, 50 kW if lucky.

@Winston_Woof For many in the UK it will be nice when chargers that are more than 50KW come to near them.

 

If the penalty is £1 a minute after 40 or 50 minutes or £10-£30 penalties then many stop charging anyway and might not even have 85% of a charge.

Big battery cars.

 

Is the article from the USA really anything to do with the UK or is that just you being Nostradamus?

Tesla already have a penalty for Idling.

Tesla automatically set charge limit to 80% if site is busy and when charging stops, idle fee applies....... so it's quite flexible. For example, even if the site is busy, I can still set limit to 100% and come back in 50 min time as it slowly edges towards 100%.

 

I guess key here is EV charging is flexible and different to petrol station. Enforce the idea that rapid chargers are different to slow AC charger. People shouldn't abandon their car without plan to move it when rapid charging almost finishes. I like anything that educates people about EV's different charging speeds.

Yes, I had a boss years ago who was very proud of his Skoda Octavia, I remember that most of us who worked with had other thoughts though, then he purchased a Citroën 2CV and thing, although it looked as it just thrown together with god awful panel gaps etc. It was actually quite well engineered, it was completely flat underneath and everything was hidden behind sealed steel plates so was great for rough ground. I had many rides in it to other depots of the bus company we both worked for as at the time I was the auto electrician on the buses and I had to cover a few smaller depots but was not able to drive, so he took me in his car and although it was noisy with its twin cylinder air cooled engine, it was smooth as silk in its ride, very impressive.

I used one this morning that stopped at 80% and i had to go restart.

Normally it just charges to 100%, or in the past it has sent a message to my phone saying at 80%. 

 

Location location location and anything can change anyplace as anytime. 

Que sera sera.

I've owned multiple 2CVs in the past (including a Van) and they are simply awesome.

Ok they can have issues with the honeycomb floor structure rotting out but the chassis is a relatively easily swapped out item and many of them now have had upgraded chassis fitted. Also worth putting in electronic ignition.

Doddle to work on, the bonnet slides off with no tools (so do the doors) and only 4 bolts hold each of the front wings on then you have the whole engine sitting in front of you.

Excellent vehicles in the snow and also have a starting handle :)

That's what my boss said, and he should know, as he was the Mechanical Superintendent for the National Bus Company that we both worked for. He and I would travel to out laying smaller bus depots where they only had a handful of buses and were deemed too small to warrant a full-time maintenance team on site, so he would do the mechanical, and I'd do the electrical work on site a coupe of times a month. If the mechanical work was too much to do in a day, then I'd drive the bus back to Chelmsford, where we had a full team of around 20 engineers, or I'd go out with another engineer in the tow truck and get towed back if it was not drivable.

Now i know why i feel energized like a Duracell Bunny & hearing voices.
