Virtual pedal not available new order

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Following on from the canton soundsystem not being available atm due to the semiconductor shortage. I have just had an email regarding my VRS estate ordered in August. Apparently the virtual pedal is not available and is being taken off the build.

This is listed as a £825 option alongside the rear led lights (led rear lights are also aprt of the £1600 led upgrade)

Both are standard on the VRS but skoda is not discounting the car for the removed option.

Getting really sick of this and am seriously considering cancelling my order all together.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Cheers

Craig

If you've got any sense you'd cancel it anyway with the amount of issues there are with the current model.

I'm being pestered by Garlands to trade mine in for a new one and have been told NO WAY.

Looking at BMW and Jaguar.

Mines a hybrid and a company car so am limitted at the moment with regards to cars vs spec for tax reasons.

I looked at the bmw 330e but the price diffrence is alnost double.

Its nuts.

I was looking at the 128Ti or Jaguar XE 250.

Whilst waiting for my vRS I started to look around and we got a good deal sub £500 (business lease 3yr 20k miles) on a Hyundai Santa Fe plugin Hybrid. Huge car with amazing spec for the money. We were considering that until the dealer emailed yesterday to say it was on the way.

Kind of pleased the vRS is on the way, kind of pee'd off as I really liked the test drive I had in the Santa Fe.

For a huge car, it's actually slightly shorter than my current Superb.

New to the forum this week, and have VRS wagon arrived at Garland’s Friday for PDI. Can anyone expand on quoted reliability issues as maybe an extended warranty needs purchasing? Reliability is a big deal for me as coming out of company car for first time in 30 years!

It's the software that is the major issue and considering that software controls almost everything...

Mechanically I think it's OK, but as I've said before until Skoda pull their fingers out of their ears and butt and get the software right so it doesn't malfunction or misbehave and does what it should without resetting, freezing etc. I won't even consider buying one.

Isn't necessarily a bad thing losing the virtual pedal, I appreciate they are handy. Equally they can be a pain in the rear when washing, the hose pipe used to trigger it on my old Clubman, and other times I'd looking like I was giving the car a good kick'in when it didn't want to trigger.

Deal breaker for me would be losing either the camera or one of the heated things.

@Dubwiser so to clarify, you spec’d an option, included it as part of your finance plan (or however you’ve chosen to pay) but now Skoda are removing the option and not changing the price of the vehicle to suit?

Essentially you’re paying for something you aren’t getting?

If that’s the case I’d ask them to discount the removed option or provide a couple of servicings, or similar, for free. If they won’t budge I’d pull out of the purchase.

Thats pretty poor customer service on their part.

I bought a car that was already built so got no choice. I have the camera but don't really use it and wouldn't pay extra for one given the choice.

I would like a heated steering wheel but hate heated seats so could quite happily lose them.

i ve had heated steering on Phaeton w12 long time ago, use it one or two time and never again, totaly pointless. In the opposite i really like heated seat

If you want the extended warranty, have to be quick, has to be done before it is registered.  Anything you buy later is inferior (not as comprehensive).

Generally mechanical reliability seems to be good, but the software has been problematic (although more recent versions seem to have fixed most items).  Might be worth asking dealer if it has latest software version, (might have been superseded since build date, in which case ask for latest version)

Remember it will be delivered with summer Eco sport tyres (poor in colder weather), if keeping car seriously consider getting set of winter wheels.   Because you will be doing about half year on each set, won’t then need to buy more tyres for 60k+ miles.  So no more than forgetting to rotate wheels (as per handbook advice) and having to buy replacement at 30k miles

No sorry the item being removed is standard on the VRS estate.  It is an option on other cars with the led rear lights for £800+.

Skoda are removing it from my ordered vrs due to supply issues and are not discouting the price.

Basically its loosing spec with no compensation.

The attitude seems to be well take it or cancel it.

@Dubwiser ah got you.

I wonder if they would be able to recall the vehicle and fit it retrospectively once they have stock of the parts.

i ve ask my dealer and they say no

I have a vRS on order with the virtual pedal. As the car is currently unfinished, I tried to get info, what is missing and if only the virtual pedal was missing, I was willing to give it up in order to receive the vehicle early. Apparently, there is no such dealer--->importer---->manufacturer communication that would make that possible. Even if it would benefit Skoda. Go figure. :)
