Sympathy needed...

Featured Replies

Discovered yesterday that the Octy has got a dented sill section on the drivers side at the front by the jacking point :(

Does anyone know whether it is easy to knock back down and if so how to go about doing it!

Any advice would be much appreciated!

:)

Body shop job mate, you cant get to the inside of it.

Often happens when people jack them up in the wrong place.

Cheers for the prompt reply Lummox!

The bit that has bent is the flange that sticks down not the actual sill section itself - will I still need a bodyshop to sort that out?

If so any ideas how much it might cost? :)

gentle bending back of the flange with mole grips should be ok , just put something between the jaws and the paintwork , if the paint cracks , touch it in , then spray some cavity wax on it

I was thinking along those lines but am worried about messing up the paintwork. I was going to use a block of wood and gently tap it back into place - using the wood to spread the load...

hitting it with a hammer or bending it with mole grips , the choice is yours but the mole grips with gentle bending sound better than trying to beat it straight imho , whatever you do protect the paintwork whilst doing it and if the paintwork cracks touch in and protect with wax

Exactly what Saltdean Skoda did to my Superb when they were putting the optional alloy wheels on, they never did fix it!! - B*stards:rolleyes:

A combination of mole grids & light tapping will straigten it out, if its stil not to your liking after that paint just the section that projects down matt black, Ive painted both of mine black as I think the detail looks awful even when straight.

Paint it with a brush, that way no risk of overspray & no need to spend ages masking it out

i bent mine when changing my wheels using the scissor jack provided, ****in thing bent and the car fell over lol

as above, use mole grips and make sure you repair any damge to the paint
