Horrendous Octavia Infotainment

Featured Replies

I'm on my 6th Octavia, great supporter for years. But the new Octavia's Infotainment system is HORRENDOUS. Nothing works, full of glitches, I don't even have a functioning radio after 2 return trips to the dealership. (Don't even dream about Phone or App connectivity) Its CRAP!!!!! ..and Skoda's lack of response is appalling. I've met many other new owners with exactly the same problems. The car is actually lovely, but I would seriously advise against purchasing this car until Skoda have worked this out. After years of loyal support, I will definitely be shopping elsewhere after this experience

I think Skoda have rushed it a wee bit with the MkIV, at least it seems that way looking at the posts on here about MkIV related problems.

Totally agreed. This can happen but most important question now is..What are Skoda going to do to make this right for those of us who have bought this faulty car?

Have you say in anID3/Golf mk8/Seat leon with the same system and seen if the bugs are there?

I hate the system in all the cars I've tried it in, so I'll probably go out of group for the next car.

If it's really that bad, then you have consumer rights, particularly within 6 months, so I'd look to use them.

If it's on finance, then you have a few additional options with the finance company.

TBH, if it doesn't work and affects the functionality of the car, then you might want to consider rejecting the car as not fit for purpose. I believe (but do check) that if within 6 months, the onus is upon them to prove the fault didn't exist at the time of sale, rather on you to prove it was.

Thanks for your support on this- its very frustrating. Unfortunately with Covid restrictions etc I let it slide and its now 11 months old, but it hasn't worked since the day I brought the car home. The dealership have promised me that they are following up on it, so I'll see what happens. I will certainly be taking legal advice if nothing is done. But like you, it has left me with a wariness of the VW group for next time around

I assume the car isn't on finance (PCP/lease etc)?

Actually it is

Just go to the finance company and tell them they need to get involved and resolve it or take the car back as it's not acceptable/dangerous (depending on what the issue is).
As so many functions are controlled by the touchscreen, it's certainly a problem so make sure you detail what doesn't work rather than "the radio" unless it really is just everything is fine but you can't pick up DAB.

For skoda finance, go direct to skoda finance and don't let them or the dealer fob you off saying go to customer services.

When you buy things on finance, the finance company and the dealer are equally liable if there are problems (Again check this before stating it, but Citizens advice etc should be able to help).
