Replacing Driver's Seatbelt Buckle Button

Featured Replies

I there,

I have a small plastic item that is jammed in the driver's side of the seatbelt buckle button (the female part of the seatbelt) of my Fabia 2019. I have tried getting the plastic item out of it but it is pretty jammed.

I am wondering a handful of questions:

1. Is it legal to drive the car if I connect driver's seatbelt to the passenger's seatbelt buckle button?

2. Can I try and find a local garage that can replace the seatbelt buckle?

3. Will Skoda dealership/service be able to sort this?

Can the plastic item not be broken / cut in to smaller pieces and then removed?

No, it cannot. The plastic item is sort of like an aglet (those hard plastics you get at the end of shoelaces). It's vertically sat flush right underneath the metal catch inside the seatbelt button. Therefore, it can't get removed. I've just spoken to AA and they said I can't legally drive the car but then, how am I supposed to get this problem fixed (Im struggling to find a mobile garage/mechanic that is able to come to me).

Can you not unbolt the buckles from the seats and swap them around?
