Sportline vs Sportline plus, and the 220 TSI.

Featured Replies

Sadly my 19 MY Oct vRS 245 has been trashed in a RTC, and whilst I could replace it with a similar car, I'd have to buy unseen from a dealer a trillion miles away, which I don't fancy. My local has a Dragon green(?) sportline 220 ps just in, which looks nice. It's not Octy vRS 245 for sure, but I'm unsure of valuation and spec differences? Quick search on Skoda used suggests most Plus have a 190PS engine, but I'm told the spec levels are much higher? I've had a Superb TDi previously so realise it's no sports car.

A 2.0TDI 190HP would be far more economical than the 2.0TDI 220HP, and the on road performance of the diesel should be pretty good with 400Nm of torque compared to 350Nm for the petrol. The 2.0TDI 150HP doesn't look too shabby either.

2.0TDI 150HP 340Nm@1,750-3,000rpm

Acceleration 0-62mph 8.8secs

Top speed 137mph

2.0TDI 190HP 400Nm@1,750-3,000rpm

Acceleration 0-62mph 8.0secs

Top speed 147mph

2.0TSI 220HP 350Nm@1,550-4,400rpm

Acceleration 0-62mph 7.0secs

Top speed 152mph

My question was about the differences in the trim levels; FWIW I'm not going to buy a diesel again, I've had a few in the last decade and every time I regret it. I've owned a Superb 190 PS TDi for 42 months, and didn't feel the love much tbh. Partly because of the seats in the S EL Exec model that I had, not at all comfortable, and partly because I dislike the diesel and ad blue thing.

My work colleague is about to hand back his 220tsi estate sportline plus estate.

I think the plus is well worth seeking out. It gets quite few extras, heated seats, reversing camera and I think front parking sensors and probably a couple of other things

I'm not sure of the date but I think the 190 TSi replaced the 220 around 2019. I'd go for the 220 if you can. 30bhp is a lot and I think the 190 has a gasoline particulate filter which is just another thing to go wrong.

My colleague loved his and probably his only gripe is pulling out of junctions quickly with fwd and dsg can be scrabbly. But if you're coming from a vrs 245 you'll know how to manage that.
