LIMP MODE AND LIMITED REVS

Featured Replies

HI guys :)

I've got a skoda fabia vrs mk1 BLT I've done a egr delete and ever since the car has been in limp mode and has very limited revs it will rev to 1500-2000 then splutter.

Will this be due to the open circuit due to the egr plug?

Will this need mapping out?

Thanks for the help! :)

Yes and also the readings from the MAF sensor will now be not what the ECU expects when EGR is commanded, yes it could be remprogrammed but I would go for an EGR emulator/simulator sold by the Polish guy on Ebay

Yes it will. Remapping places will no doubt do an "EGR software delete" for an amount of money, of course. :)

egr plug?

What exactly have you done, and where was this method detailed as being suitable. If you "reverse" this method it may fix this, and what are you expecting as the result of a EGR modification. One of the VRS engines has an "anti-shudder" tied to the EGR which can cause further issues if not done correctly.

Generally a limp mode is just a limited revs of about 2500, under which the car performs normally, but you are not able to increase the revs above that point. Splutter suggest something else is going on, hence the "reverse" mod comment and requirement of knowing how it was modded.

Or about £15 to DIY, for a lead and free software, if you are competent and accept it could all go badly wrong.

Yep, but wouldn't it be an expensive eff up? Hence why it's maybe better to leave it to folk with more experience. :)

Tees-side is tantamount to Yorkshire! ;)

Hence the words "If you are competent" - there are those who can, those keyboard warriors who think they can, and those who cannot. I have done this on both my 1.4 and 1.9 TDI Mk1's so fit into the "who can" category.

Technically, Hartlepool where I live is no longer in Cleveland but most people still use it on addresses.
