Now, I'm not sure it's meant to do that...

Okay, I'm going to try taking the blanket out the back (DIY seat cover for the Spaniel) to see if it's retaining moisture. :)

You could try explicitly switching the heater/AC off before switching the engine off.

Cheers Ken. Usually it is just left on what I have as my "default", being set on bloody baltic, 2, windscreen and floor mode. :D

Typical this time of year for this to happen. Give windscreen a good clean and get rid of all moisture retaining items. I have not managed to solve this on my octy. Thankfully I don’t drive to work at silly o’clock in the morning anymore.

Thank you for your advice. This is the first car I've ever experienced it on. I could do with giving the screen a clean for a start and was told about things retaining moisture, so I'll report back in a few days. :)

Which reminds me; try changing the pollen filter (but not until the weather is warmer).

What I really meant to say. Regular cleaning of internal glass helps reduce the morning fog you can also get. Plus when car fully loaded with people creates issues. I also don’t drive around with a boiling hot car 20-21 degrees max on heating. My car defo let’s water into door seals and boot seal. Got to the stage I just learn to live with it as it’s a second car. I don’t like driving it in the winter. I bought a superb 2 with heated front screen to reap the benefits of it for these situations. I tried those Pingi dehumidifier bags not sure they worked all that well. Good luck.

It's probably needing done from the last time I checked. It's on the to-do at the "big" service in April, or when it gets to 60k.

I don't either since I can't stand being too warm, I tend to adjust the heating to my liking as I go on my journey.

I've also had a damp trap sitting in one of the back seat pockets, damn good job it did. :D

Have you checked the bottom of the door cards to see if the inner door skins are leaking?  Also check the plenum under the windscreen wiper motor is clear of debris and not overflowing in rain...

Doors don't seem to be leaking but shall check again tomorrow. The plenum is a good shout as well, haven't checked there. Thanks :)

Its a 2 minute job max on these.

Recently changed mine and it was minging.20211229_153321.thumb.jpg.e87a778daf7607a7abe176c592e1e94d.jpg

Only cost a few euro for a new one, so worth changing regardless.

Yep, it's the location that makes it... "fun". :D

Pull the passengers seat fully back and get your head under the foot well, awkward but doable.

I sprayed the new cabin air filter with odorX to make it smell nice.

Following on for Ken's advice - a good routine to adopt is to turn all electrics off (unless safety) before you turn the engine off and conversely don't turn any electrics on (unless safety) before you have the engine running.

Another tip, if you don't already, to help clear the screen quicker when the blower is used angle the sun visors so that the blown air deflects back to the screen and not roof.

Modern cars all being so big have huge windscreens and lots of other glass areas which are good for condensation (and solar gain) I've put two Pingi dehumidifier bags on top of the dash for my wife's Mk3.

We're quite dry weather here (relatively) and not very low temperatures normally but for about the last 4 or 5 winters I've noticed there's a lot more damp and condensation now with green mossy/mould type stuff (I'm no gardener) on the concrete paths than the preceding three decades.

I'd suspect a lichen, unless it's maybe 1cm deep which will be a moss.

Yes, thanks, it's both, just couldn't think of the word lichen, also get that now on the bottom rubber door window seals on the cars which I don't remember having previously.  It may be a change of conditions with fewer tress in gardens and conversely since austerity (when the country funded the massive wages and pensions of some gamblers known as bankers) the trees on the verges of the nearby main road have grown massively.

I wanted the Pingu penguin ones but apparently "might endanger a child by looking like a toy they can chew on". I don't think the UK will allow them in now we're un-EU-fied but I still want penguins on the bloody dash, even if I have to stick them in the oven for /2 a day a month. 😞

The Greenhouse heater is only good when parked and if you have an extension cable.

Set at 2 Degrees C & with a little gap of the window is fine. Where the cable comes in will do. Best that you have wind deflectors fitted.

The £1 Damp traps are fine to have in the boot and car and are a help.

Thanks for the tips George. I've got a damp trap in the rear seat pocket that has made a big difference to steaming up. The windscreen hadn't frozen on the inside this morning so I don't know if it's any better yet. :)

I think you need reporting to child protection and RSCPA!  🤣

rootoot, does the Astonish anti-fog glass cleaner stop fogging?

Decades back I tried a bottle of Rain-X Anti-Fog and it didn't seem to make any difference so I gave the bottle away.

I've still got a little bit left in a bottle of Rain-X Rejuvenator that was only add one squirt per litre of screenwash back then, I've had that bottle for possibly decades.

Don't do that mate! Chinese whispers.... By the time the message gets along they'll think I have a child labour force cooking real penguins in the oven! 🤣

@AnnoyingPentium. It works, but so does wiping the inside glass with washing up liquid in water and then buffing up when dry.    PS.  Shaving foam works as well.  Wipe on wipe off!

Or other way round!

Too late to worry, the Chinese and Russian Governments already have your post recorded, but the Americans lost it when they compared to the UK copy.
