Centre Console USB-A port - swap to USB Type-C

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm wanting to change the USB-A port in the centre console to a USB Type-C port as currently the only USB-A cable that I have in the car is for CarPlay and I want to just switch over fully to USB-C. Does anyone have part numbers for the port? Can't find it on carprog2.

Cheers

Only MIB3 units will allow for USB-C ports.

The MIB2 and MIB2.5 units do not have the additional wiring required to support them, hence won't work.

Part number is 3G5035726B, for the USB-C version.

It’s not as simple as just swapping the port, wiring is different and as JR RS said, you wouldn’t have the ability to use the port for data transfer.

your best option if you just wanted to charge is to use a cigarette lighter to USB adapter
