saw another Mk1 Octavia drivingt around this morning, and the spoiler had two vertical supports along the underside.

Counting the two at the end, this was four supports for the spoilers,

quickly looking in my rear-view mirror, I didn't have these two middle ones?

Was there two spoiler options for the Octavia,

or is the 4 support one an after market jobbie?

Looked dead cool.

I've only ever seen 2, one at each end. But I don't own a VRs

Sounds like an aftermarket one from MS Design.
