I want to fit a CD player to my car.
 

PLEASE DONT SUGGEST SD CARDS OR TELL ME CDS ARE OUT OF DATE! 🤣😝

 

I would like suggestions on how to do this. I have seen numerous posts on this topic but struggled to whittle down to the best suggestion.
 

The CD player can be a single slot machine or cd changer. If single slot it must be accessible via main dashboard area - ie not contained within the dashboard. 
 

I have seen head units with CD players but these are looking fairly long in the tooth now. Availability is questionable. Connects2 might do an adapter for an external CD player.

Have you tried using an external DVD drive intended for a laptop? 

 

They're about £20.

Has it got an aux connection? If so can you still buy a CD Walkman? The external computer CD/DVD drive is a good call as potentially powered by the USB, but will the current head unit actually recognise a traditional (ie not MP3/WMA) CD?

 

As the radio you see is just a screen, I very much doubt there is even room for a cd mechanism in the front of the dash, even if you could get a head unit with a CD player.

Just checking, but, you don’t have a CD drive in the glove box do you that you’ve just not found yet..?

Have you checked what's in the glovebox as @SC03OTT says. Look you have an Amundsen system which should have a cd slot in the main head unit in the glovebox.

Yea checked. No dice. See image below. Its a MY2017 system. 

Ok. others will correct me but that's an mib2 Amundsen I think. So the best solution would be to swap out for a mib2/2.5 Columbus which could give you a bigger screen and crucially the cd slot you want.

That device listed above won't work unless you can find another location for it and wire it in. Going down the external route would be cheapest. Or a complete aftermarket head unit with cd slot either in the glovebox or dash.

If you really want to have a CD player.
