P256300/P00AF00/U041600 Fault Codes

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Have an issue with my Octavia vRS Mark III petrol (68,000 miles). Fault code appears and enters limp mode P256300/P00AF00/U041600. This is when driving up a small hill when leaving the house. Check and clear codes and drive as normal and no light comes on (ESC and Engine Management light). No power loss from turbo and when took diverter valve off no visible gunk or oil. This part actually looks brand new.

Needing a little advice. Are turbo veins electronically or mechanically controlled?

Is actuator underneath the turbo? Is this part even outside of the turbo or is it built in?

Where is the vein position sensor? Is this built into the turbo itself?

After reading a lot on the forums people say that there is gunk that stops them from working. But there is no loss of power from turbo and when you actually drive with the turbo working no hesitation or any other issues. As the fault returns there is something wrong.

Been on ross-tech website which has it's place, but it's too generic for confirming the answers to my questions. Hopefully someone else out there has had this issue and can let me know what they did to fix.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The tsi 230 uses a IHIS20.  I don't think it uses VNT. So what you are asking about is the wastegate actuator.  The ECU controls this, it is an electronic servo on the turbo I think on the mk3. (previously was a solenoid and vacuum actuator). The actuator pushes a rod connected to the wastegate arm.

Vw / skoda / audi will not replace the actuator alone, only the whole turbo assembly.  You may need to take to a turbo specialist.  See two images attached.

I would try an adaption on the turbocharger to see if it resets itself.  You can run live data aswell to see if it is the turbocharger or something else. Usually it is ideal to take it to a specialist who has a rolling road and can recreate driving types and try to replicate the fault safely.
