paint codes

Featured Replies

cleaning my car at the weekend I notice I have a chip on the bonnet, I suspect it happened during one of the recent storms as its quite far back and off the to drivers side and pretty deep rather than right on the front end of the car

They may change the paint code; get the chassis number, and order from your dealership.

Or go to your local paint specialist who will be able to mix you a can of paint a lot cheaper!!

If, and only if, you actually want a whole litre.

Not true, they can mix smaller quantities, what usually limits them is the viability of doing so.

I had a tiny touch up bottle mixed to code by an E-bay seller for next to nothing.

Even Local Motor Factors with paint mix systems can mix paint in a small quantity like 100ml.

Dead handy being local if they happen to get the mix a bit off.

Clearly if you are spraying a whole panel or blending in then mixing 1l gives them a much better chance of arriving at the precise masses of each colour and the base, I have 400ml 2 pack aérosols mixed to paint code, they contain far less than 400ml of paint, probably 100ml unthinned, the matches have always been spot on.

I think the Ebay seller of the touch up paints (the size of a nail varnish bottle) probably mixes 100ml and puts the rest aside for future orders.
