Bonnet stops / buffers

Featured Replies

Sadly one of mine has gone missing and now the bonnet is rattling badly. I think it's part number 6Y0823481 but amazingly can't find any for sale in the UK.

Has anyone replaced with a generic part or have any leads on a UK supplier?

Thanks for any guidance.

Have you considered contacting a couple of breakers to see if they'll sell you them from a scrap car?

The parts are so cheap you can afford express delivery from mainland Europe.

You check with TPS first obviously.

Cheers. I'm ideally looking for new as they get loose and crushed over time but if no luck with new I'll happily fit used

TPS is the VAG dealer parts network.

More and more these days "cant find any/anywhere" means nothing came up on Google, if they are available from TPS then they will be available from any main dealer parts counter the length and breadth of the country but many people think if it can't be found on Google then it doesnt exist.

Way back in 2005 when I moved to France a friend wanted to visit me, he said "do you know there are no camp sites anywhere in your area, the nearest is 130kms away!" I could walk 15 minutes and pass 3 small camp sites, there were probably 30 within a 10km radius, every large village or small town had a municipal camp site but no, I was wrong there was nothing in my area, he had checked on the internet.

To be fair all of them will be either have a web page or be listed somewhere now.

Thanks. My Fabia VRs has been so reliable with just basic servicing and regular maintenance that I'm almost out of touch with actually ordering anything! Last fault was the motor for the heating air controller and that was years ago. Truly amazing cars.

Used ones would be fine, they are adjustable by screwing them in or out. The original ones on my car don't look remotely crushed and have never been loose.

Yes, having a MK1 Octavia for 12 years was like that for me, I really had some major catch up to play when I got a MK2 which was very needy by comparison although most problems were inherited from dealership bodges, then once again with the Yeti.

During that time the specialist multi-marque parts suppliers to the trade that I used to deal with (even by then main dealers parts counters had little clue) have all dissapeared and indeed the internet & Ebay has taken over, TPS fills the void nicely for me and as long as they continue to serve me I will remain with Skoda or VAG.

My big problem though is that there is nothing similar in France and I am selling up everything in the UK and will soon have no excuse to return.

Now, now, no need to panic.

Germany is right next door to France so Autodoc will be able to deliver cheaply and even Skoda Parts in CZ will be cheap and quickly delivered.

I'll let you know I get on. Trying TPS first, drop them a message.

Last time I went to my local TPS(Derby),they told me they do not sell to the public anymore, so I went elsewhere.

All sorted now. Skoda Parts online had the parts and arrived after a few days. So happy with that and now no noisy knocking and tapping from the bonnet.
