Engine check light

Featured Replies

Hi all - 2014 vRS TSI is showing an engine check light for a week now.

Ran an ODB2 scan (Android app and generic bluetooth dongle) and is showing this;

P2414
Raw code: 2414
ECU: Engine control unit
Status: Confirmed
OBDII: Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 1, bank 1 - exhaust sample error

I've done the usual googling and nothing specific coming up for Octavia. Car appears to be running fine but would like to get it sorted.

Any advice?

Cheers

Paul

Most obvious is a faulty 02 sensor.. have you cleared and does it return? Is the car standard?

I have cleared all the codes and the light is still on. Car has done 75k miles without an issue. I could replace it - is a special tool needed?

Not a special tool. Usually a spanner or pliers to unbolt from exhaust and release connector. They are not very cheap though. Originals will be £150 plus. You should probably remove and test.  Also a better VW specific scan like VCDS will tell you which o2 sensor it is referring to. I can't tell from that fault code. There is probably at least 2, one upstream and one downstream of the cat.
