Engine Performance

Featured Replies

2002 Octavia estate 1.9 TDI. 119,000 miles

Occasionally engine flatlines at 3,000 - 3500 rpm.

When accelerating uphill engine sometimes stutters, with clicking noise apparent from under bonnet nearside.

Have tried injector cleaners and long runs without improvement.

Would welcome advice and comments.

Thank you.

Sounds like classic case of the turbo vanes sticking, a fault code readout would confirm it, but search for Mr Muscle turbo cleaning loads of posts about it and youtube guides on how to do it.

as above - turbo vanes.

what engine code is in the car?

ALH/ASZ etc?

Also inlet manifold and EGR may be gunked up and need a good clean

FWIW I've found that using the expensive diesel ( sold here a 'Green'  - WTF ? ) reduces the sticking vanes & gunked inlet tract issues.
