GENUINE SKODA AMUNDSEN 2nd MIB SAT NAVIGATION SD CARD UK

Featured Replies

Hi wise ones”  Please forgive me being a newbie!  I have just purchased a Mk3 Superb (2017) but it does not have an SD card with it to update the Sat Nav etc.  Where would I be able to get one from?  They are selling for approx. £30 on eBay but I do not know exactly which one I would need.  Many thanks – ‘heaps ‘n’ loads’. 😀

You don’t need to purchase anything.

if you go onto the Skoda website directly and put your VIN number in it will give you a set of instructions on how to format your own SD card, it will give you a huge download file and you can update it yourself for free.

Just buy a 64gb SD card if you don’t already, any generic class 10 will do

@Schlads2020I am in the same boat as you bought 2017 Superb. I tried it using 16gb card but skodas instruction manual itself says aftermarket SD Card wont work. Any luck with yours? Read point no.1 of this manual here : https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/Download/amundsen_MIB_2.pdf

16GB is too small, at least 32GB is needed but just buy a 64GB, be cheap as chips.

The Skoda ones just literally have a sticker on them which says Skoda, nothing more

Although the Columbus can use any SD card, the Amundsen will only accept genuine cards or cards with the CID modified to match a genuine one :)

I used Sandisk Ultra 64 GB / 80 MB/s class 10 which worked perfectly. Amazon, less than £10.

Are you saying aftermarket SD card worked on Ambudsen MIB 2 unit worked? I am little apprehensive as skoda software update manual says only skoda sd card will work with the unit. I dont mind buying one but if it didnt work then it is of no use to me...who uses SD cards nowadays its thing of a past 🙂

Sorry, didn't read post properly, I have Columbus. But for the sake of a tenner why not try it. As @Danoidsays its only a sticker although @langers2ksays it only works on Columbus. And I still use SD cards. When I bought mine it was only a couple of quid more for two than for one. So I have put a load of songs on the second one, and use that in the SD slot.

Standard sd cards dont work on amundsen got to be a skoda card for maps 👍

Because I am not tech savvy I bought a 2022 Skoda SD card  off ebay  for £22 ish  straight in and works great with no issues whatsoever. Have saved my original card with

2020 maps on which I will try to update using the Skoda portal for a spare. If I cant will simply buy another Skoda card from ebay in say another 2 or 3 years time to keep updated.

For me its worth about £10 per year to keep my Navigation maps up to date without hassle .
