Just a hello - cheating really as my wife has owned all the Skodas since our first Fabia in 2000, then another Mk1, currently a 54 Estate, also currently a 15 petrol Yeti and a 20 Karoq. I promise not to nause on about ABS, gearbox bearings etc. here .......

Hello and welcome to Briskoda. Nice to see someone else with a Mk1 Fabia. :hi:

Thanks! Yes these are brilliant, even sporty (OK my last bike was an xs850 3 cylinder so I love this engine) and are a good basic for learning about Skoda engineering if you are so inclined!

Which engine have you got in yours? I've got the 1.2 12v in my hatchback Fabia. Good wee cars to work on IMO. :)

Yes the same. We had two coils give up in the first year so have been carrying a spare in the glove box ever since! We were introduced to the limitations of modern clutch lining materials when it failed suddenly at about 40k. Great car for these narrow lanes!

I keep one in the spare wheel well besides the tyre. Quite good IMO.

Clutch seems okay on mine, sitting at just shy of 60k. :)

Hello Don :hi:

I did similar with my V6 Superb, which started to get signs of starting issues.  Reckoned to most likely be the glowplugs, so I bought a set of six and put them in the glove box.  It seemed the threat was enough to resolve the starting problems.
