Hi guys any1 using 5w40 oil in their TDI if so did it help with oil consumption?

Are you sure the oil is to VW 507 00.    Do not use 5w 40 FS III which is to VW 502 00.    How much oil use has your engine?

Uses around a liter every 700 miles and iv heard ppl change to 5w40 and it helps

Your engine needs more than different oil.  But you do not say what age or miles it is.  But you have a DPF so use the right oil.    Even 0.5 litres in 1,000 km./ 621 miles Is excessive.  It is not within tolerances.   1 litre each 700 miles is ridiculous.
