Parott

Featured Replies

Have got a Parott 3100 to go in the Octy. I'm a bit anal about making sure I locate things where they won't subsequently annoy me (what seems a good place to start with....).

I've been thinking about the following, with the last picture my current preferred. What does anyone think?

Dead dentral, with the wire tucked between the switches at the top:

Directly above the blank, with the blank slightly drilled to run the wire through (I can replace the blank when selling the motor if the Parrot comes out):

Nearest the driver and therefore prob easiset to read, wire running across and through a slot drilled in the blank as above:

On the right hand side of the cubby hole, on a stand tcuked in the cubby with the ability to tip it back/up so it can be more easily read by the driver.

The cubby hole fitting might not look too hot in the pic but looks neatest in the 'flesh' and the wire is not visible.

Comments?

I'd go with the middle pic, easy to see the display without glancing of the road and wire can be run through the blank as you have shown.

First or third for me I think.

The bottom one is too low and you'll be struggling to see the display.

Top pic for me

Mine is on a blanking plate, i.e. the bracket supplied by Parrot is fitted onto a blank (Fabia, not Octavia, same principle though) and the wire goes 'through' the blanking plate too.

Personally i'd like the dead-centre one with the wire going through a small slot in the blanking plate, it would look tidy and it's easy to see/use the display.

How about directly below the Octavia badge.

Is it possible to get the cable out between the two halves of the dash?

That would be neatest and doesn't involve andy cutting , but it depends on the size of the plug on the end of the cable I suppose

Sounds like a good idea to me then your not drilling holes that you cant easily undo

*edit* i meant WW VRS' post but Zoidberg got in before me :p

Thanks for the thoughts. I did think about putting straight onto the blank but the Octy blank has the curve running through it whereas the Fabia blank, I think, is flat. Wonder if a Fabia blank would fit in there??

WW - you got any piccies of how yours looks?

I have one to the right of where you have it in picture 2. Wire goes in the gap between the centre consol and the part with the vents then down behind the glove box. No drilling required and easy to read / get to.

I was thinking along these lines myself. So you have nicked a bit out of the back of the LCD display so that the wire runs straight out the back and not from underneath?

Yep :D

PM me your mobi number and I'll try to send a picture message when I leave this evening :)

Yep :D

Good call - how did you get the plug on the end of the cable through the gaps between the dash and the centre console then - looks pretty tight
