Fabia alarm ?

Featured Replies

 The other day our fabia was broken into by smashing the passenger window and pinching the radio  when I returned to the car the alarm wasn't sounding, is this correct and would the alarm go off if you then climed in through the smashed window, its a Fabia Elegance Tdi 02, Does the alarm have its own siren ? as I don't know now if the alarm is working properly. cheers-Stuart. :)

The alarm has it's own siren which I believe is in the rear nearside wheel arch. You could test the alarm by locking yourself in the car and thrashing around a lot, but I couldn't trigger mine this way. At the end of the day, it's not a great alarm and if you want one with motion sensors, glass break sensors, etc you should look at offerings from Clifford, Toad, etc :D

:) Thanks for that Chris as the last post went into plastic film for the side windows, I asked the dealer to check the alarm about a year ago when it was under warrenty and the girl on the counter said it was OK, and to test it you had to burst a balloon with the windows shut to trigger the alarm (pressure sensing), which if that is the case it WON'T pick up a smashed window and then somebody climbing in, whereas ultrasonics would pick somebody up and sound the alarm if the window was smashed and somebody entered, I fitted my own (vision) alarm to the Octavia and that works fine and I thought that the factory fitted one would have been even better but that is not looking the case. :o

Errr right. Whats this then?

It cant be pressure sensors, the car isnt sealed from the outside.

 Thanks for that lummox, so in practise I should be able to wind down the rear window, set the alarm and wave my hands around inside to trigger the alarm ? If the siren is under the wing what stops somebody reaching up and ripping it out and then breaking into the car ? as when I fit an alarm I put it out of the way so you carn't get to it easily. :)

You cant get into that part of the body from the outside.

:) That's reassuring! Im away for a week so I will test the alarm when I return for piece of mind ! :)

I tested mine (2.0L elegance) by leaving an open window.

The motion sensor by aving my hand inside, did not work, but after turning the passeger light on it activated.

Guess there might be a voltage detector?

 Acording to whats been posted op to now IT SHOULD go off when you wave your hands around inside (ultrasonics) ! But unfortunatley its NOT the case and it looks as though the alarm will only trigger when a door opens and NOT when a window is smashed, so all I am getting is a remote door locking/part alarm which would be crap.:thumbdwn:

I've had alarms go off due to ultrasonic sensors on Fabia and had to adjust thier sensitivity so they are fitted.

:) Hi Lummox, do you need the Vag-Com computer software to adjust/test them or is there a sensitivity pot on the control unit ?. cheers Stuart.

You need diagnostic equipment, Its an adaptive value.

:) I will have a chat with a friend of mine who has Vag-Com, do you know which values to look at and change ?
