VRS - how hard should they pull?

Featured Replies

Just left a deposit on an 07 VRS TFSi.  Full dealer history, clearly looked after. Drove fine, nothing untoward but didn’t feel massively quick.  Looking at the speedo it was piling on speed, but it all felt fairly linear rather than pin-you-in-your-seat lumps of torque.

I’ve been driving an MX5 for the last month, which while far from quick is pretty much instant response so my calibration may be off.

I suspect it will have a certain amount for carbon buildup on the intake valves at this age so no doubt a bit of power will be down, I’ll be getting them cleaned once I’ve put a few miles on.

Bought mine recently and after a flat battery and codes cleared from flat battery- throttle adaption seems to have made fly by wire pedal seem much snappier.

Coming from a Megane GT turbo felt heavy and slow- could be my imagination but seems more comparable speed wise and more composed than the GT Turbo.

Also lot higher insurance group for a marginally faster car

Cheers. Reading around, I think I will fit a new diverter valve as it’s seems likely the existing one will have perished by now and be leaking boost.  Hopefully that will improve performance a bit.

Just search the 0-60mph time and compare using a stopwatch, easy enough.

Late update as I only collected the car this weekend. Filled it up with 97 Ron BP Ultimate on the way home and it flew so I suspect it was just old supermarket fuel that made it feel lazy on the test drive.

Mine a throttle body adapted and valve timing block set  with diagnostic and it is quick.

Going to see live boost data and see if stock or not
