heater blower ?

Featured Replies

hi there, i have a heater blower problem (i think) on my (2013 superb estate 170bhp  2.0 tdi dsg  4x4) the other day my heater blower would not come on at all all the little buttons and heated seats still working but the fan would not come on, so i left the blower on full i.e all the little green lights on full so i could hear if it started working again about half an hour  later it just came on and worked as normal, yesterday it did the very same thing no fan/blower at all then just started working of its own accord.

is there a common fault with the blower motor on this model ?

or is there something els that is usually the problem?

cheers kev!

Hi Kev, it’s a common fault and has been well documented here. It’s an easy fix.

thanks!

so is it the blower motor that goes down i.e works then stops working intermittently and then is it a case of replacing the hole motor blowing unit or is it something that plugs into the motor like a resistor ?

cheers kev

I changed the whole thing for about £110. Some people have had luck hitting it with a hammer and some WD40.

20 minute job st most.

i cant seem to find any threads to look at with same problem when my heater stops working i can turn it all off and try starting the blower on full so i can hear anything only thing i can hear is a very quiet buzzing sound only lasts about a second or so followed by a very low ticking sound and that only lasts about 2 or 3 seconds then nothing but i can be driving along some time later and it just starts working on its own ( i leave the blower on full so i can hear if it starts up again) hope that makes sense lol.

cheers kev

right thanks so its likely to be the motor its self and not one of the other things like resistors and the likes ?

think i will give the hammer a miss knowing my luck al swing the hammer miss and hit something els then that will need fixing lol

cheers kev

Take it out and get spraying with Wd

The bearings partially seize

As above less than 20 minutes to fix

I posted a vid from Youtube to see how easy it is in the post below
