Superb III 2.0 TSI 190 Sportline 2020 engine oil type

Featured Replies

Hi I'm driving back from Switzerland to NI and may need some engine oil. I RTFM but there's no specification. Anyone know where i can find the official Skoda recommendation. I did a search of this site. TIA

Castrol uk says Castrol EDGE 0W-20 LL IV

That is correct.

VW 509 00.       0w 20 FS IV      (VW508 00  / 509 00)

In an emergency top up you could use VW 504 00 / 507 00  So 5w 30 FS III

or 0w 30 FS III

Long life 4 oil is what is used. Comes in 0W20

You can also use long life 3 which comes as a 5W30

Your manual should state VW508/509 or VW504/507

it may even state either or both.

Manual says emergency top up

Petrol engines: VW 504 00, VW 508 00, ACEA C3, ACEA C5.

I guess LL is long life and FS fixed service? I'm on fixed service regime.

@BPL The correct oil is the correct oil and you are not wanting to mix specs / oils.

****With a TDIi it would not matter if it was on Fixed Servicing the Oil is still Long Life that is used.****

With a TSI an owner might go with VW502 00 on Fixed Service regimes.

But VW / Skoda no longer show that as suitable with the engines with GPF's even though it is.

I’m using 5w-30 in mine.

^^^ That is OK and your choice.   You show as having a 2019 TSI.   You will not kill your engine.

The OP asked about a 2020 TDI.

His car can use the old spec but came with the newer spec oil that VW Group used to get the WLTP results.   EDIT,. Sorry @UndertheRadar he never asked about a TDI.

appologies to the OP if I have caused any confusion.

No problem at all thankyou for trying to help me out

You got the oil you need in the is first post.  Sadly Skoda never make anything simple with oil like in an owner's manual.  'contact a dealer' type rubbish.    TDI,s need the long Life oil.  And that to suit the DPF,s they have.     @UndertheRadar. My apology.  I missed the TSI.   And somehow thought TDI, please excuse my ignorance.

No apology needed. Easy to see the 190 and automatically pick it out as diesel.
As far as we have been informed, The oil starts from factory as 0w-20 for the WLTP rating (as you stated). Techs and dealers that we deal with throughout the VAG range using those units all then add 5w-30 unless stated otherwise by owner or contract hire/lease company agreements.
We actually confirmed this again with them before adding to my own, incase the GPF made any difference.
I’ve used a 5w-30 LL fully synthetic in mine, but if OP wants to stay factory original, it’s 0w-20 as you originally posted above.
Thing is, if already had an oil change it could already be on 5w-30 depending on the above criteria.
So, as you quite correctly stated originally, it can be topped up with either the 0w-20 or the 5w-30 if needed by OP.

Who has already answered between me reading your reply and boiling the kettle before typing. 😂
