Dump Valve Noise

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just fitted an ABD CAI Lan kit today to go with my baileys dump valve.

I was just wondering if you are susposed to hear the 'Pssst' sound from the dump valve when changing gear as all I'm getting is a sort of vacuum noise (like darth vader sound affect -as people on here say)

Apart from that the induction noise is very throaty and nice!

Also I have only driven the car up a small street so I didn't have excessive revs so is that why the dump valve is quiet.

cheers

mick

If I understand the mechanism, the quicker the turbo is spinning the louder the noise will be. I'm not sure what rpm the turbo on the Octy takes to get to full boost, but attain that under a reasonable level of throttle (boot it if you really want the noise!) and then change gear. :)

I might be talking onions as I've got a tractor though . . . .

I have a Baileys DV with a Carbonio CAI and the 'pssst' is REALLY loud!

Seems to be loudest when pootling round town going through the first 3 gears. I dunno if that's because it's releasing more air that it's not using? I dunno I'm no expert! ;)

I've just brought a Octy vRS and was thinking about making a few mods - does adding a dump valve make a lot of difference to the insurance costs?

Mine is the same - in fact SWMBO named the car "Darth" because of the noises it makes!
