Rear shock absorber issue

Featured Replies

Hi all. Noticed from the rear the right side is noticeably dropped in comparison to the left when no one is in the car. I think maybe it's leaked oil most likely needs replacing , problem is I'm away on holiday in the country and don't know if it will hold out for the journey home with all the weight. 3 people 2 dogs and a small suitcase and small luggage. As a quick fix can you re fill shocks - depending on type - or do you have to replace. Only have 4 days as of tomorrow. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

You best go into a garage or tyre and exhaust centre and see that a spring is not broken, and see just how the damper is.

What Octavia, engine / gearbox is it?

Agree with George - possibly a spring if it's that noticeable a drop.  Could be one of several things though, so needs checking.  Best to be aware that according to what's happened, the car might not be roadworthy, which may have an adverse effect on your insurance.

Tyres all okay and at the right pressure?

Hi all, thanks for the info. I'll check spring when back at the car. Tyres recently inflated to account for the weight. Correct equal pressures for front and rear. Didn't hear any noticeable damage noise and it's not shockingly low, just noticeable as soon as I got out th car. I'll inspect when back and take to the garage tomorrow.

It's a 2.0 diesel 2013 Octavia
