Fuel Filter Frequency (TSi)

Featured Replies

At what frequency should the fuel filter be changed on a petrol car?

It's not listed as part of the service at any frequency by Skoda, so I would assume it's not yearly?

On TSI engines, the fuel filter is fully integrated to the fuel delivery module (FDM) inside the fuel tank, is cannot be serviced. At best, you change the whole FDM.

How often should it be replaced?

Never, probably.

Yes, just to confirm - I enquired about this at my last 50,000 mile serivce and was informed by my main dealer that there is no fuel filter service item as such, so not to worry.

Thanks for the replies.

Wouldn't the filter get 'clogged' by it's filtering process?

In my mind, all filters would need changing at some point.

True, but, the current theory is that the steel mesh etc which is all there is in most modern cars, is only there to capture crap from "rogue" fuel, and that would start to cause a drop in fuel delivery due to a problem with the fuel delivered into the fuel tank.

So, in the past, it was assumed that all fuel supplies were slightly dirty particle wise and so a replaceable fuel filter was provided, now in developed countries, it is assumed that fuels are clean.
