Superb MKIII engines

Featured Replies

Hy,

I'm looking to buy Superb MK3 and I found it with 1,8 Ltr. - 132 kW 16V TSI engine and I can't find or hear anything about that engine from owners here in Croatia because everybody drives diesel.

What would be your pros/cons compared to 2.0 diesel?

Can someone tell me the most common problems of petrol engine?

Thanks,

In the UK the mkIII isn't available with a 1.8 petrol. The most similar version is the 2.0 tsi gen 3 EA888 which seems to be a much better engine compared to the previous gen fitted to the mkII Superb. Pre OPF (petrol particulate filter) versions have both direct and port fuel injection that helps to reduce particulate emissions and also has a great side effect of reducing the valves potentially carboning up as fuel washes past the valves when port injection is being used.

Hey there, welcome.

As John said above, the 1.8 petrol isnt an option in the UK and i dont believe anywhere.

It was avaiable in the earlier mk2 superb, what year car are you considering?

Regarding the ea888 newer generation of petrol engines for the 2.0 tsi, these are fairly reliable with occasional water pump issues and thats about it really.
