Bonnet Foam Adhesive

Featured Replies

Hi, all.

Just wondering what adhesive is safe for the paint when sticking the bonnet foam for the struts?  Mine just came off and I have only a tape there, at the moment.  It does not look nice and probably not safe in the long run.

Thank you for the help.

Thank you @nige8021!  Would it be safe for the engine?  And would there be a specific type or grade?

This should be fine https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265621576262?epid=1608006720&hash=item3dd8479a46%3Ag%3A134AAOSwMf9iRIg4&LH_BIN=1  or anything similar that you might find in B&Q/Screwfix/halfrauds or similar places

I found something similar:  https://www.bunnings.com.au/selleys-310g-401-rtv-engineering-grade-silicone-sealant_p1231042

Thinking this would be fine.  I am down under so I had to source something similar.

I have found the 3M VBH GFP and will use that as a back-up if this does not work.

Thank you again.

Ah missed the fact you're down under  but that stuff should work fine

I had the same problem and used Gorilla Glue. Just damp the surface with a little water and put a thin strip of glue on the foam. I say a thin strip, as it does expand to the sides if you use a little too much. I found that out to my cost. Works a treat though.
