Carista review

Featured Replies

Having recently bought Carista (1 month) to do 2 minor changes (LED sidelights and turn off beep on unlock/lock) I have been pretty underwhelmed at the rest.

I wasn't expecting miracles but I figured LED sidelights would definitely be on there... it wasn't, unless I'm being a biff. Anyone have any experience to guide me?

In terms of other things I changed:

- Secondary foglight (so have twin foglights)

- Turn off beep to unlock/lock

- Turn on indicators flash when unlock/lock

- Developer menu screen

- Auto unlock doors in park

- Interior lights gradually fade out.

I *May* end up using the LED option for some other bulbs but there's little on there. In summary, just go and buy OBDeleven or VCDS.

Now to look up OBDeleven and see what I can long code. Anyone know if I can use the same dongle as the Carista one?

I've had this for a year (forgot to cancel after 1st month), and whilst it is very useful for resetting errors and starting a DPF regen, those require a subscription.

My subscription has now lapsed, and it's pretty useless with even engine module faults greyed out so you can't identify them, and no access to forced regens or adaptations.

I leave mine in the OBD socket these days simply to monitor the DPF via the VAG DPF app.

Bought a Carista on Amazon on special offer, under £19 with free delivery (Prime).

Principal reason was to enable the AUX in on the Blues radio.

It came with a 1 month free trial of all features but for some reason I couldn't activate it either via Google pay, Paypal, or by credit card so I downloaded a cracked app and ran that instead, worked just fine and achieved what I wanted.

WTF is that about anyway, why shouldn't Aux in be enabled automatically, just a whizz for dealers to charge £££ to do it if you ask me!

Browsing around I found a 1 code for oil quaility (where 1= Bad & 2=Good) which is odd because I only changed the oil and filter around 1200km (750 miles) ago using the correct 502.00 oil,thoughts?

That code has caused confusion over many years, it isn't actually a measure of oil quality but the flag that the instruments use to indicate whether the car is on fixed or variable servicing.

1 = Bad = Fixed Servicing

2 = Good = Variable Servicing

Great, thanks for that.

A PS to the Aux in recode:

It's thrown up 3 CANBUS error codes.

00470 Combination comfort Databus in Single Wire

01305 Databus for Infotainment

00469 Data bus Display / Infotainment in the single wire enterprise

All to do with enabling Aux in without the official wiring harness being in place I presume.

Not that I'm particularly bothered by the errors but I've read somewhere that disconnecting the CANBUS wires from the radio might eliminate them so happy to do that if true.

CAN-bus uses two wires for redundancy, that suggests there is a fault or loose connection on one of them :)

Enabling the AUX input shouldn't cause it...

Did you guys buy the basic carista or the EVO one?

i don’t see a reason to pay for the expensive one.
