2.0 TDI 190 Sport Line - exhaust sound tuned to sound sporty?

Featured Replies

Quick Q... is the exhaust sound tuned in the Sportline to sound more sporty? I heard that the VRS pumps a synthetic exhaust noise into the cabin to enhance its sportiness too.  I do find the engine / exhaust noise a little tiresome around town (its not so bad when cruising) so wondered if this was a normal 2.0 TDI noise or if Skoda have fiddled and made it sound sportier? If so, can it be 'un-fiddled' to make it quieter? if not fiddled with by Skoda, any ideas on muting the noise?

Cheers

It actually pumps it into the exhaust... not the cabin. It's better than the one on my old Octavia vRS (not hard as a fake v6 sound on top of a diesel engine is absolutely terrible!), but it's still debatable - the wife thinks it's naff and I think it's perfect for annoying the neighbours, but that's about it.

As for the Sportline, I doubt the exhaust note is tuned at all. BICBW.

LOL - thanks guys... will just turn up the music ;)

This is a funny thread

Bought a diesel, but want it to sound more sporty.
No one chooses a diesel for the sound of its exhaust

What next a thread saying prefer sound of a combine harvester to a tractor

🤷🏼‍♂️Er, like a noise that gets irritating? A drone. A constant thrum that needs not be there.

I have one of those at low revs, something resonating that I have yet to find and its getting worse, when it does not do it it sounds pleasant

I'd like mine to sound not unlike a Tesla?

Given that Skoda will go to such lengths as removing door pocket liners and baggage hooks then I've no doubt hidden noise insulation didn't manage to escape the list.

Yeah, noise insulation would be used less than in the equivelent VW I'm sure.
