CDAA Exhaust

Featured Replies

Hello,

My new to me Octavia keeps me on my toes.

It's now decided to shed it's exhaust a month before the MOT. It's rusted clean off right behind the mid silencer, right at the base of the pipe. My first thought was to replace the whole lot but I'm struggling to source parts, everything is out of stock and even škoda has it on back order.

What's going on? Any tips on how to get it roadworthy asap?

Cheers

Don't look at Skoda, try either Eurocarparts or GSF.

Failing that, see if there's a local(ish) exhaust manufacturer.

The garages I went to looked at škoda because everything else is out of stock,

I only managed to find parts on the continent but they don't offer delivery because of the size

@CezarTheSalad   Have you spoken with local to you Tyre & Exhaust centre staff.

It is difficult times supply wise but  5 1/2 days a week their job entails sourcing and receiving and fitting exhausts.

I've been phoning around just about all garages that have "exhaust" in their Google listings. The kwikfits and farmers don't even get back to me and noone is able to source it.

Seems like my only option is bespoke stainless for a third of the value of the car.

What are the chances of a different VAG car having an exhaust that fits?

A quick glance at these two part numbers on ebay (minus the spaces) shows a few 'aftermarket equivalent' results, admittedly all from mainland europe.

This one includes delivery price which suggests they can/will ship to you? Muffler Silencer/Muffler MSD for Skoda Octavia II 1.8 TSI | eBay

Yeah, I've found quite a few options in Europe. They all take a month or don't deliver at all. Nevermind the MOT being on the 8th of May this means the car is off the road until the parts arrive. Is there any downsides to letting the MOT expire?

What website is the screenshot from btw?

Am in the same boat as you, i got through the MOT with a minor exhaust leak.

Two weeks ago my exhaust back box snapped off, so i took it in to my local exhaust specialist and like you they could not get the parts. But they did say they can build me a Powerflow stainless system for £500 (i said no thank you after i picked myself up off the floor).

I did consider this :-

https://www.hornetexhausts.co.uk/collections/skoda/products/skoda-octavia-mk2-vrs-2-0-tdi-170-hornet-exhaust-race-system-twin-3-slashed-tailpipes

But god knows what it would sound like with no silencers !!

Will be interested to see how you get on, so let us know what you decide in the end.

@CezarTheSalad

Where about in the Borders are you?

Are you near ? http://hrmotors.co.uk

Maybe worth a try.

Tyre & Exhaust centres are usually more helpful when not KwikFit or other major places and there are 3 places with good reputations in the Borders area.

I ordered parts from Germany on Monday. Came to £350 including all the hangers and connectors 😕 £50 ish for the delivery

Ouch that`s quite expensive, especially if your going to have to pay VAT and customs duty on top of that.
