backbox/resonator delete

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

i Have done a bit of searching and mixed reviews and found some info i was after, i am new to the forum and had my blackline vRS 2 weeksish, 170bhp, standard intake/turbo - exhaust components, i love it, but man is it quite, in previous cars i have done such work as de-cats, downpipes, dpf removals, resonators etc, but often at once or in combinations.

my mechanic friend removed his mk5 golf diesel backbox and straight piped and it made zero difference, not a toot different, iv lined up a backbox delete kit but he has suggested i check on here first to see if i will get any change with our cars. there are two kits i have seen, just backbox delete, and or center resonator delete, they are hornet products. ebay/there website

1. is there any change in sound with just backbox removal?

2. do you have any experience removing both center silencer and backbox without horrid drone?

kind regards

stephen

my mates blackline has a nice exhaust note, sounds like a petrol,

mine also has a deep bass note, both stock exhausts,

my other mate mk6 gtd has a hornet exhaust (straight through) and it sounds pretty good, no drone

check youtube there's a few vids, "2.0 tdi hornet exhaust"

Hi Zah,

Thank so much for your response, i cant decide which route to take and you may have helped me, i have watched a bunch of videos and searched on here.

I am defo doing away with the backbox, cant decide to pay a little more and get the hornet pack to do away with the resonator, or maybe just do the backbox then see how it feels then do the centre section if i bought the package?

Have you done just the backbox and your happy?

Kind regards

Fisher

no mine is standard with box in place,

mates gtd has the hornet, straight through from downpipe, he said he paid £150 for it from ebay,

it does have a good tone to it, also can hear the dsg farts slightly,

hope that helps
