Welcome.

What is the standard size tyres on 17" rims for your car, are they 215/40 R 17?

You are going a bit too big with the tyres, are you building an offroader?

@Carlstonmight be along with all the sizes and rims you need for the tyre size you are looking at, but here is a comparison for you. 'Too big basically'.

Has anyone put to a 17" wheel a tyre with dimensions 225/45? And if it is then what wheel exactly has put on?

225/45R17 is an Octavia MK1 to MK3 sized tyre.

The Rapid uses smaller Fabia MK3 sized tyres.

Up to 185/65R15, 195/55R16, and 205/45R17 should be fine.

The below 6.5Jx17 ET40 rim fitted with 205/45R17 tyres would be ideal for the Rapid.

Factory 17 inch wheel for Rapid is 7x17 ET46 5x100 with 215/40R17

In some countries 215/40R17 wasn't an option as it can't cope with big potholes. The rims would have been destroyed.

Are those the countries that also have the raised ride height?

@Carlstonregardless of what the 'Importer' for whatever country decided they might not offer the Skoda Rapid with in the way of wheel size that does not stop someone fitting 17" rims and all they really need to know is what tyre size they need.

Surely the driver know where they drive and what the potholes are like.       There are big potholes on some roads in the UK.

Driving at big potholes is never 'simply clever' even if you have 16" rims and a bit more sidewall.

I doubt a Suzuki Jimny on 195/80R15 tyres would have much trouble driving straight over most potholes in the UK.

Are you out and about much in the UK @Carlston?

Do you know something, you might be right, but the tyres still can get wrecked but the rims might not.

With potholes it is not the ones you see that is the issue, it is the ones you do not see.

That size you mention for the Jimny is the size of tyres they come on now crap on road and off,

the last model came on 205/70 R 15 & that has been Bridgestone Dueler ditch finders that are OEM since 1998.

You know the scores on the doors, but do you ever drive the cars that you actually post about with the wheels and tyres you recommend?
