Replacement wheel centres for Superb III

My 5 year old wheels look OK but the plastic wheel centres do not. There are loads available on Amazon or eBay but I suspect the bargain ones will not last long.

 

The Skoda ones are quire expensive so I wonder whether anyone has experience of buying replacements?

Likewise, can confirm good quality. Ordered a few things from them following full wheel refurbishment, here are the prices:

Wheel bolt caps set:  Eur 7-06

Wheel Valve Caps Set: Eur 19-30

Wheel Centre Cover Set: Eur 6-70

Coincidentally just booked in complete alloy refurb over at Amazing Alloys based on your previous recommendation and was also thinking about buying new hub caps and bolt covers from skoda-parts.com rather than paying main stealer rip-off prices - great minds think alike :-)  Can you please confirm you didn't get hit for any customs charges etc and that the listed Euro price and Fedex delivery charge is all you paid?  Their UK customer support guy has suggested this is the case but having been hit with charges when I ordered gaming headphones from a UK website dispatching from Danish warehouse that ended up being dispatched after final Brexit changes, just wanted to be 100% sure this time.

DrCorbyLee, how much are you paying for the refurb of your wheel if you don't mind me asking??? Id like to get mine done at some stage. I suppose I should ring some people up really.

Can confirm no customs charges, paid Eur 12 for Fed Ex shipping to door. Ordered Thursday 12/5 and sent Monday 16/5 but had also ordered the Skoda rear seat protector which was out of stock at time of order. Off the top of my head received order on the Wednesday. They are very good quality. The set I ordered had the 4 locking covers as well but didn't come with the cap 'puller'. As I put in previous post found one in the car tool kit!

 

You won't be disappointed with Amazing Alloys, cracking job. Mine are 19" Trinity's and decided to go with the solid Anthracite (original colour) but without diamond cutting. Photo picked up reflection of next doors car on drive

They are charging £84 including VAT per wheel which I thought was reasonable compared with the cost of just a quick once over with spray gun which is no good for me as have lots of flaking paint and corrosion.  Doesn't look nice but also causing slow "punctures" as tyre bead doesn't seal properly on rim.   I did get another quote but that was almost £140 per wheel which is crazy when replacement Trinity alloys are only around £200 each

Thank you.  I'm not convinced that the genuine hub caps are any more corrosion resistant than the £8 ebay sets as these are my second set, the first lot being replaced under warranty just as the car turned 3.  But seems they fit better than the copies which often need fettling with tape to keep them in place.  And as not paying almost 60 quid a set from Main Stealers definitely worth going for genuine ones from Skoda-Parts.com, along with a few other bits and bobs that are stupidly expensive in UK.

 

Already have the cover puller in tool kit and a spare that lives in the glovebox as boot is always full of work kit so never easy gain access to spare wheel well.  Mine are 18" Trinity's on a Mk 2 facelift, just going for original full silver finish again.  Lot of money compared with current value of the car but with current delivery times and the fact they appear to no longer make a diesel 4x4 in higher trims will be keeping the car for at least another 18 months (and may well simply keep and run it into the ground as done almost 120K).  So looking to keep it presentable and reliable (keep getting tyre warnings thanks to poor bead seal from corroded rims), hence the alloy refurb.

These are a nice tight fit, need a hefty thump with palm of the hand and then a satisfying click as they seat. You're probably right about the resistance, but at that price you can change them every year, good excuse to buy more stuff as well.

As I said in earlier post, ‘smart’ repairs to alloys look good for a short period of time. But all it needs is a small flake under the surface before they start bubbling again. I’m just now terrified of scuffing them, so I’ve started parking like a BMW driver, 2 feet from kerb 🤣

Superskodas center caps are the genuine article then sprayed up and lacquerd.. I must admit I'm a fan of the monte carlo black on them. Not a great photo I know but you get the idea

My better half is a BMW driver and from the state of her alloys she must judge distance from kerb by feel and / or noise, maybe male and female BMW drivers are a different species :-)

 

Know what you mean re damage paranoia, unfortunately an occupational hazard with modern ultra-low profile tyres.  My previous car was a Mondeo with 205/55 16s on it, after 130K there wasn't a mark on the alloys but with the 40 profiles on the superb had first pot hole mediated damage within a week of it arriving.  And even though I'm ultra-careful still managed to pick up a few kerb related marks over the years (and don't get me started on careless tyre fitters!).  At the end of the day, cars are only big lumps of metal but it's my expensive big lump of metal and so still hurts when it gets damaged.
