Hi, I wonder if anyone can advise. I bought a roomster as my first car and I've had it a year and really know nothing! The driver side rear outside door handle has suddenly stopped working. I can open it from the inside but not the outside. The outer handle seems a bit loose/not springy- like it isn't really doing anything. Im guessing that means there is something wrong with the handle rather than the whole door mechanism. Can anyone tell me what I can do about that- is it relatively easy to sort out without a mechanic?

This any help at all?

 

 

Thank you for replying. I'll have a proper look at this- looks like this is a different kind of handle so I'm not sure if it works in quite the same way. But hopefully it might be similar enough in how you do it.

The wire that clips on the handle just got unclipped. Try to open - remove the protecting cap with a trim tool. After that, while you pull the handle (a second person would be a good help) try with a long nose pliers to grab the wire and put it back in place. If the wire is broken then you will need to follow the door lock replacement procedure so to replace the broken wire on both sides, handle and door lock respectively.
