VRS on order...

Featured Replies

Hey,

Recently just signed up and been having a mooch about the mk4 forums as i have placed an order for a TSi VRS

Seeing quite a few threads re software issues, bugs etc, can anybody confirm if this is ongoing or have these been fixed yet? Would my new build have more updated software or is this likely to have an affect on my car also? Its not due until 2023

In saying that, i see a lot of positive comments on how people do love their cars aside from the small issues, so thats more of a satisfaction

Overall, i think they are a lovely looking car from all angles, and the updated interior helped my decision as i was fancying a Superb Sportline for quite a while also

Anyway, look forward to getting to know you here, and having a nosey about anybody doing any mods with these as i have a few in mind myself... maybe ;)

Welcome to the forums…

As the owner of a SEL First Edition I think I had more than my fair share of the problems; others with more tech than I have in mine experienced even more! Bit of a sad story early on, but in my case virtually all the issues were fixed last September, just a few niggles left but nothing any worse than most cars out there. Recent s/ware updates are fixing the slightly newer cars and the impression I get is that the latest builds are pretty good (which after two years should be the case - well, should be the case on day 1 really!).

OK, mine isn’t a VRS but I’m very impressed. Performance and economy in a very comfortable and good looking package.

Well, thats good to know

As you say, it should have been like that from day 1 really but im led to believe it had to do with the new Octavia and Enyaq being the test beds for the new infotainment roll out, still it should have been developed and tested long before being made available to public

@foxmeisteractually VW Group already knew they had issues with their inhouse software before they ever allowed new vehicles out to customers with the faults that they knew they would have to fix, but they had cars to sell, money to get in  and customers to suffer for their greed.

Yes, i can understand this, as much as its great that Skoda were taken under the VAG umbrella, this is the problem with big companies, you can become the sacrificial lamb

What happened was VW Group needed to meet the Average C02 emissions in the EU & in the UK and were missing them and Skoda had models with lower ones so they wanted them first registered.  So cars that were not fit for purpose were released and the Motoring Journalists just do the 3 monkeys.

Now they have the partner companies with EV's to assist them get the results and still lower emission Skodas to punt out.

The vRS is a great car but my experience has been totally screwed by the software problems.

As you say the car looks great especially the estate but mine is a petrol and mpg is **** poor. Like really **** poor. I know it's the performance model but come on 23mpg isn't really acceptable today.

The only software problem mine still appears to have is the adaptive cruise issue that tries to kill me several times each and every motorway journey, well actually not every journey as sometimes it works as it should.

Hopefully by the time yours is delivered all the 'issues' will have been sorted and you'll be able to enjoy your car. I'm so ****ed off with my experience i'll never again give VW group any of my hard earned.

Only city driving or mixed?

23mpg are my worse resutls in city driving. Long term mixed fuel consumption in my case are around 30. Bests around 40. I am quite satisfied with those numbers.

My long term is 33. And on highway I'm constantly getting between 40 and 44.

I have a 2022 model and the software is perfectly fine, there are some bugs here and there and sometimes it's slow. But it's like 95% there. Fuel consumption is 8.6l/100km in 5000km mixed driving. That's for the 2.0 petrol.

Thats not ideal, nothing worse than being put off a car due to unreliability etc

thats low mpg also but I also own an Audi RS6 so I kinda know how that game works lol

Thats good to know, I haven’t been allocated a build slot yet so hopefully they are now assembled with updated software etc, looking forward to it

Where is the best places to look for Skoda aftermarket parts, I’ve saw some sites but not very well stocked for the VRS, mostly golfs etc

Is anybody doing any builds on the mk4 yet? Be interesting to see some threads

Exactly the same for me. Happy with that too

Hey, i got my VRS diesel on Friday. I already have a 1000 km on it :) .

The car is so much fun to drive, its fast when you need it and totally quiet and relaxing if you want it to be. The infotainment is working just fine, no glitches or anything yet. The only thing I need to figure out is when I'm using Android Auto the calls are not transferred to car speakers.....

Glad there’s more positive reviews of recent deliveries, seems they are being built with latest software etc

I've had my vRS TSI Estate since Feb and i've not had any of the software issues earlier cars had.  DCC works fine, Matrix Lights work fine, Wireless Android Auto works fine.  (touches wood!).

MPG wise my long term average is 33.2mpg.  I do mostly short journeys (sub 10 miles) and it can be high 20's at times, but i've had a few 200 mile long trips which i've seen 45mpg on.  I use super unleaded which seems to help with the MPG.

If i was the OP who has one on order, i wouldn't worry about any of the software issues and just sit and wait.  Delivery dates often changes these days so try not to pay too much attention to it and hopefully it will be with you early 2023 :)

Glad yours went well for you

Exactly, I’m quite looking forward to it and it’ll be first new car I’ve ordered and I’m sure they have the software issues in hand by now, just terrible lots of people had to experience the bad side of it all but hopefully it hasn’t tarnished everybodies experience
