I don't usually get drawn into these things but thos ****ed me off....

I got out run by a BMW diesel yesterday in the Type R. I think the phrase is "left for dead"...........

As for my BMW run in, it was a previous shape 5-series. Unbadged at the back. Estate. 4 up. And it went like a rocket.

My boss for reference has a 1.9 TDI Passat. Its 130bhp 5 speed. If it wasn't for the Civics great handling the Passat would pull away without a doubt. A Passat TDI on coilovers would be a formiddable piece of kit.

I own a CTR and it'll easily waste a pd130 passat!!!  Clearly the guy is a liar and doesn't have a CTR......

Not liar mate... I think w4nker's the word... ;)

I remember reading a post on a Subaru Forum with someone saying that they outdragged a big engined, heavy BMW on a certain road and on a certain day.

The Bmw driver:P had a scrag about and found a post which he recognised and described his car, he signed up to the Subaru forum and all hell broke loose as he got his bmw members forum to back up what he said.

Made a great Read.

This is a fair comment from a bloke over on CLIOSPORT about this thread...

My mate bought a Fabia VRS its black. Hes had it lowered, remapped by angel tuning est 185bhp and a Uprated air filter.Hes only spent bout £600 on it in total.

Im not gonna go on about how quicker his car is, because I know how easily this kind of talk can upset you peeps. But he has the quicker car.The drive is really nice, the kick in the back is something else. Maybe not as good round the bends or as involving but still a great car.

We were joining the M65 from Padiham, the torque on the car is amazing,he was in 6 gear just riding the torque,i was caining the *** out of mine just to keep up.

Its even more embarrasing in the real world coz most of the time im just cruising.Where as when hes just crusing his car is on boil at 2,000 revs it will spin in 3rd gear if he boots it.

Diesels suit the lazier driver obviously.

The guy was talking about an in "wrong" gear tussle uphill between 30-31.3mph where I believe the PD130 will kill a CTR ;)

Chris

Chris

Your probably right!  ;)

You all torque too much.

Torque is nothing without power. Live with it.

was he not talking about a VRS with 180bhp and 360nm of torque or something similar??? for just £600 over the top of the standard VRS

in that case they would be fairly even in a straight line, the VRS would probably have the edge. you cannot prove otherwise, I am just stating the mathematical outcome.

I also think the guy was on about straight line aswell which is exactly what the maths states.

that said adding another £600 to the clio would not bring the anyway near same increases.

does it really matter anyway? they are both very different cars.
